About half of our 26 Sweetheart Ride Dinner guests took advantage of the special beach hotel rate and came for a one- or two-night stay on lovely Amelia Island. It was winter in Florida, but the weather was still better than most of the country.

After a beautiful day of strolling Center Street and visiting Fort Clinch, we met at the Salt Life Food Shack for dinner.

We scheduled dinner for the picnic area on the lower deck. When the sun went down, so did the temperature! Fortunately, the Salt Life had gas heaters to keep us warm. The wind was light and with coats, coffee, adult spirits and blankets, all enjoyed a great meal and friendship.

The full moon that was special ordered for our event came up right on time, casting a beautiful golden glow over the calm Atlantic. We finished off an excellent weekend by meeting for brunch on Sunday at the Patio Place near downtown Fernandina Beach.
