I ride a 2004 BMW R1200 CLC. I started riding my motorcycle in 2006. I became a member of BMWNEF in 2005. I was the volunteer coordinator for the 2016 BMWNEF Coolest Winter Rally. I have worked many of the events at BMWNEF.
The longest trip I made on my bike was to the inaugural Moto GP race in Indiana. I got to ride around the race track on my motorcycle and across the famous yard of bricks.
TreasurerLike many, I got bit by the motorcycle bug at an early age. Seeing my father and his friends riding and getting to sit on those machines was exciting as a little kid. Since then I have always wanted to ride. I started riding in my early teens, and had many different bikes. Yamaha 80, Yamaha XS400, Honda 750 Shadow, Honda Pacific Coast, Honda VFR 800 and in 2011, I found one of my dream bikes, a 2004 BMW R1150RT. I have completed two IBA Bun Burner 1500s and enjoy long distance riding.
After retiring in 2009 with 27 years of military service (US Army, Army Reserve and US Coast Guard), my wife and I split our time between St Augustine Beach and the Poconos. We both joined BMWNEF in 2014 and enjoy the club rides, social gatherings and look forward to more adventures.

David has owned and enjoyed over 20 motorcycles including 7 Suzuki’s, 5 Kawasaki’s, 4 Yamaha’s and 3 Honda’s. He has served on the Executive Committee for over 4 years and leads the Safety Committee. Appointed DirectorI purchased my first motorcycle at the age of 14, a Honda 50 Super Sport, and promptly detonated the engine drag racing. My dad in his infinite wisdom replaced it with a Honda 50 Cub, trying to slow me down; it was quicker in the ¼ mile. Since then I have owned a multitude of motorcycles and ridden hundreds of thousands of miles. I joined BMWNEF over twelve years ago and have enjoyed riding BMW motorcycles for as long. For the past 30 years I have been a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, and eight years ago was appointed the CMA Florida State Coordinator. My bride of 36 years enjoys riding with me and we are the proud parents of three grown children and three beautiful granddaughters.
My dad loved to ride and rarely left home on his bike without me. At fourteen I got my endorsement and purchased my first motorcycle, a 250 Yamaha Virago. Growing up in Tennessee the mountains were always close and next curvy backroad was only a short straight stretch away. I moved to Florida for a job opportunity and started riding with Todd Sandlin. After attending a few club meetings and rides I joined BMWNEF and am looking forward to contributing to the club in any way I can.
Member-At-LargeI bought my first BMW in 2011 K1600GTL in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2014. In 2013, I retired from the Military and married Laurie Schaefer Gross in July of the following year. I enjoy being a member of the BMWNEF. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase my late father in law’s 1981 R100RT which he owned since new. I’m looking fwd to getting it road ready again and ride it.
